Our General Manager

  • Five minutes with Dominic Osbourne.
  • What are your hopes for 2010?
An increase in consumer confidence leading to a general upturn in business across all industry sectors. And a glorious summer would be great.

  • What do you think the reality will be?
I feel confident that we may see a slight upturn in the latter part of the year but it will remain a very challenging economic environment for all.  As for the glorious summer – unlikely.

  • What good things are there happening in your area this year ?

With our fantastic naval heritage, we are spoilt for seafaring events. This year Southampton commences a series of events leading up to the 100 year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic – April 15th 2012. Events include Family drop in days, Titanic trail walks and musical productions.

It is also a very special year for Southampton Airport and aviation in Hampshire, as it marks 100 years since the first ever flight flew at the airport. To mark the centenary year, a series of events are being planned throughout the region to celebrate Hampshire’s rich and proud historical links to aviation and aerospace industries.

  • Where will your football team finish the season and why?
Southampton – the play offs and hopefully promotion to the Championship.

  • Where would you most like to holiday this year and why?
Brisbane, Australia in November, just in time for the 1st Ashes test. Alternatively anywhere on the Med. I just love the climate, the cuisine and being near the sea.

  • Who would you be inviting to a cosy supper for 4 at your hotel?
My wife, comedian Dara O’Briain for the banter and England rugby legend Martin Johnson.

  • Which celebrity Chef do you most admire and why?
Floyd – the pioneer. I think he was key in changing the ways in which the country approached food and cooking in general.

  • What would be your signature dance if you appeared as a celebrity on Strictly Come Dancing and why? Which professional partner would you want as your coach?

The Waltz because it is the only dance I can vaguely do! Erin Boag because she is the Ballroom Queen!
